We are looking for a Supervisor, Communications and Marketing, to join our talented team.
Please note the location of this position will be determined later in the recruitment process based on organizational business needs and the successful candidate’s location in Canada.
NATURE & SCOPE:
The Supervisor, Communications and Marketing will play an important role in elevating CKC’s brand, promoting its mission nationwide, and engaging with its members. The Supervisor will support a staff team in the creation and implementation of various communications efforts that support the strategic vision of CKC. Further, this individual will not only manage communications and marketing projects, but they will also play an active role in developing communications directly. Areas of focus includes membership engagement and communications, communications project development, external communications and marketing, and digital and social media engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working in partnership with the Director, Advocacy and Communications, the Manager, Government and Stakeholder Relations and members of the management team; and through effective direction and support of direct reports, this position will:
Support the Director in the development of plans and work with other departments to respond to opportunities in a proactive way
Work closely with cross-functional teams (Operations, E-business, etc.) to identify communications needs, develop yearly operational plans, establish efficient processes, and ensure timeliness and consistency across organizational communications
Support the Communications and Marketing team by establishing clear roles, expectations and standards regarding internal and external communication
Foster strong relationships with members through targeted communications, membership engagement opportunities, and continuous improvement through solicitation of feedback
Coordinate and support the Communications and Marketing team regarding the implementation of all communications messaging, content and tactics across various channels including e-mail, publications, CKC’s social media accounts, CKC.ca, and others
Directly write and develop content for sharing across CKC communications channels
Coordinates media relations, working with the communications specialist and appropriate subject matter experts (i.e. Board of Directors, Committees, Executive staff, etc.)
Review content developed by other departments and team members for tone, voice and visual identity requirements that take into account member, stakeholder and government audiences
Work with the team to use analytics and reporting to inform CKC leadership and optimize strategies and continuously improve communication tactics
Take the lead on special projects as assigned, using proven project management techniques
Support the Director in managing certain crisis communication and reputation management
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g. communications, marketing, etc.) and/or equivalent experience
A minimum of 3+ years of proven experience in communications, marketing, or public relations
Strong writing, editing and presentation skills
Communications strategy development
Leadership experience with proven ability to build and maintain positive internal and external relationships
Detail oriented with ability to think and act strategically
Experience managing websites and enhancing users’ experience
Familiarity with digital marketing tools and analytics platforms
Excellent interpersonal skills
Project management skills, including handling multiple, concurrent and diverse projects
Passion for the organization’s mission and commitment to member satisfaction
Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
Love of purebred dogs
PREFERRED SKILLS/ASSETS:
Knowledge of purebred dogs and competition, or animal health and well-being
Experience with membership-based organizations or associations
Experience with reporting tools such as Google Analytics and CRM reporting
PMP certification and/or extensive project management experience
