Submission Guidelines for Photographs

Thank you for contributing your photo(s) to the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC).

We are excited to see and include member submitted photographs capturing your beautiful CKC registered dogs across all our communications channels.

Please ensure your submitted photo meets the following requirements.

Submitted photos may appear but are not limited to, the CKC Annual Report both for digital and print, The Annual General Meeting (AGM), newsletters, blogs, social media, and promotional materials.

IMPORTANT: If you are not the photographer, you must have permission from the original photographer authorizing CKC to use the photo.


Submission Checklist:

Resolution and Size
  • Photos must be 300dpi or higher (high resolution) and no larger than 15MB in size. Dimensions can be up to 8.5" x 11". Jpg, png, tiff, eps
  • Do not submit previously submitted photographs or duplicates
Photo Style
  • Natural photos are preferred (no stacked or show shots).
  • Photos with substantial backgrounds are welcome, as text may be added in some cases.
Scanned Images
  • Must be scanned at 300dpi or higher.
Prohibited Submissions
  • Have permission to use submitted photos
  • No pictures of photos.
  • No watermarks.

CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB

MEMBER SUBMISSIONS: LICENCE AND RELEASE ("Release")

FOR GOOD AND VALUABLE CONSIDERATION, the receipt and sufficiency of which is acknowledged by the Grantor, the Grantor hereby irrevocably agrees with, and represents to, the Canadian Kennel Club (“CKC”) as follows:

  • I have reached the legal age of majority in my jurisdiction of residence, or I have had my parent or legal guardian sign this Release on my behalf below;
  • I grant to CKC, its service providers, sublicensees and their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents (collectively, the “CKC Parties”) the irrevocable, fully paid up, royalty free rights and license to reproduce, copy, publish, perform in public, communicate to the public, make available, modify, edit, synchronize with other content and materials and otherwise use my photo(s), video(s) and any other content (including without limitation my name, the photographer/videographer’s name, my dog’s call name and registered name, my dog’s breed and my kennel’s name, and any stories, documents and other materials) that I submit or otherwise make available to CKC (collectively, the “Content”), in whole or in part (as is or as may be edited), and any materials based upon or derived therefrom (collectively, the “Materials”, which for clarity includes the Content) worldwide, in any manner, method and media now or hereafter known for any purpose (including without limitation to promote CKC and its activities, members, partners and the broader dog and allies community) in perpetuity;
  • I agree that I shall have no right of approval over, nor any claim to monetary compensation arising out of, the use of the Materials;
  • I warrant and represent that: (i) I am free to enter into this Release; (ii) I own or control all rights necessary to grant the rights granted to the CKC Parties hereunder; (iii) no additional rights or consents are necessary to give full effect to the terms of this Release; (iv) the CKC Parties will not be required to make any payments of any kind nor obtain any further rights or permissions to use the Content in accordance with the terms of this Release; and (v) the CKC Parties’ use of the Materials in accordance with the terms of this Release will not give rise to any third party claims;
  • I release the CKC Parties from all claims of any kind that I or my heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, successors or assigns ever had, now have, or may in the future have, arising from, connected with, or in any way related to the use of the Materials;
  • I will at all times indemnify and hold harmless the CKC Parties from and against all claims and costs based upon a breach of the terms of this Release;
  • I agree that the Materials (including the Content but solely as incorporated in the Materials) will be the sole and exclusive property of CKC and I transfer, assign and convey to CKC, worldwide and in perpetuity, all right, title and interest of every kind whether now known or hereafter known (including without limitation copyright) in and to the Materials (including the Content but solely as incorporated in the Materials). Further, I waive all moral rights (and all other rights of a like nature) in and to the Materials in favour of the CKC Parties; and
  • I agree that this Release includes the entire understanding between myself and CKC and that the Release will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and that the courts of the Province of Ontario will have exclusive jurisdiction to entertain any action arising under this Release. I attorn to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario.
