Submission Guidelines for Photographs

Thank you for contributing your photo(s) to the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC).

We are excited to see and include member submitted photographs capturing your beautiful CKC registered dogs across all our communications channels.

Please ensure your submitted photo meets the following requirements.

Submitted photos may appear but are not limited to, the CKC Annual Report both for digital and print, The Annual General Meeting (AGM), newsletters, blogs, social media, and promotional materials.

IMPORTANT: If you are not the photographer, you must have permission from the original photographer authorizing CKC to use the photo.


Submission Checklist:

Resolution and Size
  • Photos must be 300dpi or higher (high resolution) and no larger than 15MB in size. Dimensions can be up to 8.5" x 11". Jpg, png, tiff, eps
  • Do not submit previously submitted photographs or duplicates
Photo Style
  • Natural photos are preferred (no stacked or show shots).
  • Photos with substantial backgrounds are welcome, as text may be added in some cases.
Scanned Images
  • Must be scanned at 300dpi or higher.
Prohibited Submissions
  • Have permission to use submitted photos
  • No pictures of photos.
  • No watermarks.

Photo Submission Authorization and Agreement

  1. CKC may edit, crop, or arrange the Photograph as needed but will not alter a dog’s structure or general appearance.
  2. When possible, CKC will provide credit to the photographer, breeder, and owner, but this is at CKC’s discretion based on the context of use.
By submitting this Photograph, I certify the following:
  • I either:
    1. Own the Photograph as the original photographer, or
    2. Have written permission from the original photographer to submit it for CKC’s use.
  • The photographer retains full copyright ownership of the Photograph.
  • CKC is granted free usage rights for the purposes outlined above without additional fees or royalties.

I hereby authorize and grant the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) a non-exclusive, royalty- free license to publish the photograph (the “Photograph”) I have voluntarily submitted. I also grant permission to include my name, my dog’s call name, registered name, breed, and my kennel name in connection with the Photograph.

I understand and agree that my Photograph may be used in CKC’s Annual Report, website, digital publications (including but not limited to the monthly Bulletin e- newsletter, Kennel & Bench, blogs, and social media), and in promotional materials related to these platforms. This may include both digital and print formats on CKC platforms such as social media, newsletters, emails, and blogs.

I understand that granting CKC permission to use the Photograph does not grant me or the photographer any ownership rights over CKC’s use of the photo.

Finally, I release CKC, its contractors, and employees from any liability or claims arising from the use or publication of the Photograph.
