Integrated Breed Health Program Update


CKC continues to make progress on our Integrated Breed Health Program. This program aims to support the health and well-being of dogs through a number of strategies including breeder education, breeder community support and a breeder recognition program.

The Breeder Relations Committee has provided input and advice regarding these initiatives including future breeder education topics and how the breeder recognition program will be structured in the future. CKC has been working on the development of a DNA program that will provide our members parentage profiling as well as genetic health panels. CKC has been exploring a partnership with the American Kennel Club (AKC) to be able to bring these tests to Canada at an affordable price for our members. AKC continues to refine their DNA program. CKC will continue to explore a partnership AKC this year on the development of this program and look forward to providing our members an update later this year.
