2025 Chair’s Awards – Nominations Open


The time has come to submit your nominations for the 2025 Chair’s Awards!

The Chair’s Awards acknowledge the exceptional dedication, commitment, and achievements of CKC members. Presented at the 2025 Annual General Meeting, the following awards are now open for nominations:


CKC National Heritage Canine Performance Award
This award honours individuals who have made notable contributions to heritage performance events, recognizing their dedication to the role dogs play in assisting humanity. Heritage performance events include all CKC hunting-type and Field Trial events, Herding, Agility, Lure Coursing, Tracking, Earth Dog, Draft Dog, and Scent Detection. A recipient of this award:
  • Competes in CKC events with fairness and integrity.
  • Has achieved both national and international success in their chosen event(s).
  • Actively encourages others to participate, offering support and guidance to fellow competitors, including event set-up, tear-down, and management.
  • Provides mentorship and educational opportunities for newcomers to performance competitions.
 
CKC National Breeder of the Year
This award recognizes a breeder whose lifelong dedication to enhancing the health and welfare of purebred dogs has led to outstanding achievements. The CKC National Breeder of the Year:
  • Is internationally recognized for their Canadian breeding program and the excellence of their dogs, whose accomplishments are noted both nationally and internationally.
  • Is acknowledged as an expert in their breed(s) on a global scale.
  • Has devoted their life to advancing the health and wellbeing of their breed(s).
  • Has left a lasting legacy through their breeding program.
 
CKC National Obedience Competitor of the Year
This award honours an individual who has demonstrated exceptional achievements in CKC Obedience and Rally Obedience. The CKC National Obedience Competitor of the Year:
  • Competes in CKC events with fairness and respect.
  • Has achieved national and international recognition in their chosen event(s).
  • Actively encourages others to participate, offering advice and assistance to fellow competitors, and contributing to event set-up, tear-down, and ring stewarding.
  • Provides mentorship and education to newcomers to performance competitions.
  • Submit your nominations today to recognize these outstanding members of the CKC community!

To be considered for an award, nominees must meet specific criteria outlined for each category, including achievements in national and international competitions, contributions to mentoring and supporting fellow competitors, and a lasting impact on their breed or sport.
 
Nominations must be submitted by March 14, 2025. Don’t miss this opportunity to honour the exceptional individuals who make a lasting difference in the CKC community.

 

To nominate a member, please submit the following information to [email protected] with the subject line “Chair’s Awards Nomination”:
  • A letter indicating how the nominee meets an award’s description and criteria.
    • The letter should be no more than 350 words (1 page);
  • Contact information for the nominee, including:
    • Name
    • Membership Number
    • Kennel Name (if applicable)
    • Email Address
  • Your contact information as the nominator, including:
    • Name
    • Membership Number
    • Email Address
 
A committee comprised of the current, previous, and Honourary Chair of the Board, will evaluate all entries, with winners announced at the AGM.
 
Deadline for submissions is March 14, 2025.
