CKC Member Breeders Invited to Participate in OVC Survey


CKC is pleased to work with researchers from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC), University of Guelph, who are conducting a series of surveys examining how dog breeders are managing breeding females and puppies. This research is aimed at understanding common practices used by dog breeders in Canada. More specifically, researchers would like to identify early management factors that might be protective against the development of behaviour and welfare issues later in life. 

The first two surveys were shared with CKC members in 2021, and this is the third of six surveys that together aim to determine how dog breeders are managing breeding female dogs and puppy care prior to sale. This survey will focus on how breeders are socializing and training puppies prior to sale.

Supporting the health and well-being of purebred dogs and all dogs is integral to CKC’s mission and values and we encourage CKC member breeders to take part in this worthy initiative.
