Update on CKC Advocacy Activities in Ontario

We have been busy advocating on your behalf over the last month and would like to provide an update on our recent efforts to support our members and the health and well-being of purebred dogs in Ontario. Our activities include:

  • Meeting with the Policy Advisor for the Solicitor General’s office to discuss CKC’s work with, and input provided to the Solicitor General and Ministry. We discussed potential exemptions for CKC registered dogs under the PUPS Act.

  • Participating in a stakeholder information session with Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry regarding the application process for the new train and trial areas and license transfers. The session covered the operational aspects such as processing applications for new areas, transfers, processing annual applications, and the license issuance process. Several important scenarios were reviewed and questions by stakeholders and answered by Ministry staff. Please click here to review the Ministry’s responses.

  • Attending the Pets Canada Queen’s Park lobby day at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario and met with MPP Christine Hogarth and other MPPs and staffers to discuss key issues affecting animal health and well-being.

Please watch for more updates in the months ahead, in support of the health and well-being of purebred dogs and all dogs. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].
