2023 Chair’s Awards Recipients

The Chair’s Awards recognize the outstanding commitment, dedication, and accomplishments of CKC members. Presented at the 2023 Annual General Meeting, we congratulate all our winners.

CKC National Obedience Competitor of the Year – Rose Apollonio

Recognizing an individual for significant achievement in CKC Obedience and Rally Obedience.

Rose Apollonio: I have been competing with my dogs for 30 years in CKC, AKC and UKC events. All my dogs have ranked numerous times amongst Canada’s Top Ten All-Breed Obedience teams. I’ve placed 5 times as #1 overall.

Competing in Canada and the U.S., we have achieved over 650 High-in-Trials and over 25 scores of 200.

In addition to competing, I have been an Obedience instructor for over 25 years and have mentored many students toward achieving their competition goals.

CKC National Heritage Canine Performance Award – Sharon Luckhart

Celebrating the intrinsic value of dogs and their virtues in assisting mankind, this award recognizes an individual with significant achievements in heritage performance events. Heritage performance events include all CKC hunting-type and Field Trial events, Herding, Agility, Lure Coursing, Tracking, Earth Dog, Draft Dog and Scent Detection.

Sharon Luckhart: Thank you to the CKC for this honour. Remain committed to the sport of purebred dogs on several fronts from field, rally, obedience, and show, as trainer, exhibitor and judge.

None of this would be possible without the support of the Labradale team including Ross Brennan, Liane Chaput Brennan, Amanda Samis and of course our four-footed companions, so shout out to them as well.

CKC National Breeder of the Year – Kim Ramey-Leblanc

This award celebrates the dedication and education required and recognizes a breeder who has dedicated their life to improving the health and well-being of purebred dogs.

Kim Ramey-Leblanc: THANK YOU! I cannot say that loud enough or often enough to all the amazing people who have been part of my journey in dogs.

Your generosity and thoughtfulness in sharing your knowledge and experiences goes beyond being helpful or kind.

I am humbled and delighted to be the proud recipient of the CKC National Breeder of the Year Award. AGAIN, THANK YOU ALL!
