Members Encouraged to Provide Feedback on PEI’s Proposed Dog Owners Act


The PEI Department of Agriculture and Land is proposing a new Act, the Dog Owners Act and members are invited to submit feedback on the proposed changes until March 6, 2022. The Dog Owners Act will be replacing the current Dog Act, which became law in 1974. 


Proposed changes to the Act include sections on:
  • Defining enforcement officers
  • Dog licensing requirements
  • Dog control (dogs at large, lead/leash lengths)
  • Dangerous dogs (duties of a dog owner)
