2019 Annual General Meeting Highlights

CKC’s 2019 Annual General Meeting was held in Winnipeg on June 1st in conjunction with the quarterly Board meeting. The AGM had strong attendance this year, with many local members coming out to engage with Board Members, Staff and their fellow members.

Highlights included a presentation by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada as well as a special presentation by Jackie Wepruk, CKC Member Breeder and General Manager of National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC). Jackie’s presentation focused on why civil discourse and consensus-building is important when advocating animal welfare issues. The 2018 Annual Report, which once again features photos of CKC member dogs, was revealed at the event and can be found on CKC’s website.

CKC was also pleased to recognize local members Gail Carroll, Valerie Reith, Jody Ripstein and Lloyd Simmons for their time and contributions to CKC and purebred dogs.  In addition, the oldest kennel club in Manitoba, Fort Garry Kennel Club, was celebrated for reaching a significant milestone: it’s 100-year anniversary!

Thank you to Corinne Walker, Zone 8 Board Member and the many local volunteers who made this year’s AGM a memorable and enjoyable event for all.
