Please join CKC in congratulating CKC member, Clint Prystupa of Lexmark Beagles, who has been selected as the 2017 Pets Plus Us® Champion Breeder Award winner!
“I was elated to be chosen!” Clint shares. “To be nominated by so many families that have adopted a puppy or dog from me and also by my peers was so wonderful! It is so gratifying to know that I am contributing to our chosen breed and that I bring happiness to the homes that adopt a beagle from me!” It is easy to see why Clint’s puppy families nominated him for the award, his breeder philosophy: “Try to make a difference in the breed with each litter and the love I have for Beagles. I want to educate and share that love with families.”
Clint has loved Beagles ever since he can remember, but his story really began in 1997 when he found a lost Beagle running loose in his work building. Rather than send the dog to the pound, Clint took Eddie home. It took two weeks to locate Eddie’s owner. “After Eddie went home, our home was so silent,” Clint remembers. He has been a Beagle owner ever since and currently shares his home with nine!
Known for their warm personalities, curious nature and excellent temperament with children, it is no surprise that the majority of Lexmark’s Beagles join family homes as loving companions. These adventurous and energetic spirits enjoy a range of activities and Clint’s puppy families participate in everything from Conformation and Obedience to Agility and Tracking. There is even a Lexmark Beagle training to be an airport “sniffer!”
As the Champion Breeder Award winner, Clint has won a $1500 donation from Pets Plus Us for his charity of choice:
Beagle Paws. Beagle Paws is a breed-specific Canadian rescue organization founded in Newfoundland. “They have a high hunting population of Beagles out on the east coast, and after they are done hunting, sadly, many are dropped off and surrendered,” Clint explains. “I have personally known individuals who have fostered for this organization. I believe in Beagle Paws and the extent they will go to save and adopt these Beagles.” The donation will help Beagle Paws with medical bills, medications, food, bedding and other organizational expenses as they work to foster and find homes for Beagles that have been surrendered. In the words of a true Beagle lover, Clint sums up his choice in a single sentence, “How can I not give back to my breed by helping this organization?”
