CKC Remembers Bruce Gibbons
It is with deep regret that The Canadian Kennel Club announces the passing of Bruce Gibbons, on February 26, 2016.
As a breeder for 30 years, Bruce was committed to producing sound Golden Retrievers that would excel in obedience, agility and the field. Bruce’s list of accomplishments is a testament to this commitment. He was a mainstay in the obedience world, appearing 12 times in Canada’s Top 10, including #1 all breeds with three different dogs – Rebel, Austin and Bright. Along the way he earned 408 High in Trials and 22 perfect 200 scores.
As the owner and director of the Top Ten Dog Obedience training centre, he prepared and encouraged countless students for competitive obedience. In 2004, he started judging obedience, and then rally, both in Canada and the U.S.
One of his greatest honours was competing at Crufts in 2013 as part of the Canadian World Cup Team, with GMOTCh. Rideauview’s Bright Horizons.
The obedience world will miss Bruce as a teacher, a fellow competitor and as a judge. Our thoughts are with his family at this most difficult time.
