Congratulations to our Top Dogs in the 2024 Agility category! We’re proud to celebrate the hard work and dedication of these incredible dogs and handlers.

In Agility, dogs navigate an obstacle course that includes jumps, tunnels, weave poles, and other challenging equipment. Speed, accuracy, and handler communication are key as teams race against the clock to complete the course in the fastest time possible with the fewest mistakes.

#2 –  AGMCH2 Agassiz’s Me And Bobbie Mcgee JTX2 MXP RE

Call Name: Bobbie McGee (Bobbie)
Australian Cattle Dog
Date of Birth: November 15, 2018
Breeder(s): Lorraine Norris and Cindy Cavanagh
Owner(s): Lyse Savard
Handler(s): Lyse Savard

Just look at her. Her expression says it all. At 5 years of age, she had become passionate about Agility. As a trainer, my greatest achievement is to have built her self-confidence. Bobbie is naturally cautious. She made me a better handler. On a start line, I know that if I read the course correctly and if my timing is right, we have a good chance of succeeding. Nothing escapes an Australian Cattle Dog. Certainly, Agility is not an activity where the Qs follow one after another. Lack of synchronism, bad lines, traps you didn't see, a bad cue at the wrong place... In short, there are many reasons not to qualify. For those just starting out, remember that every run is an opportunity to play with your dog. Am I proud that Bobbie is among the CKC Top Dogs? Absolutely. Certainly, there are hundreds of practices, long hours traveling and above all, the commitment to get there and the sacrifices imposed on loved ones. Thank you to my life partner, Marie-Johanne Cloutier, for your support. Thank you to my coach, Lucie Dessureault, for your patience. Thank you to the Club d’agilité de Montréal, to the Club d’agilité de Saint-Lazare and to Guides Canins for your organizations. Thanks to Lorraine Norris, breeder of the extraordinary Agassiz Cattle Dogs.

Thank you to the entire CKC Agility community. You are a great bunch. You have so much fun running with all your different breeds. Congratulations to Diane Guillotte and Highway for all these years at the top of the Top dogs. Very special congratulations to my beautiful Martine Messier and her magnificent Cattle Flashdance: “We made the top ten!!!"

Call Name: Firecracker
Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Date of Birth: March 8, 2020
Breeder(s): Murielle Côté
Owner(s): Lisa Zassowski
Handler(s): Lisa Zassowski

The Canadian Kennel Club is proud to celebrate Firecracker, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi whose exceptional achievements in 2024 have earned her a spot as a CKC Top Dog in Agility. This spirited Corgi has excelled across multiple disciplines, finishing her CKC agility championship and earning numerous titles in conformation, tricks, and other dog sports. Firecracker’s versatility and determination are a testament to her bond with her handler, Lisa Zassowski, and their commitment to having fun while competing.

#9 – Agassiz’s Maple Flashdance AGMXS AGXJS CD NP

Call Name: Flashdance
Australian Cattle Dog
Date of Birth: June 30, 2019
Breeder(s): Lorraine Norris (Agassiz's reg kennel)
Owner(s): Martine Messier
Handler(s): Martine Messier

What an honor to be among the top 10 CKC agility dogs. This is my partner in crime for 2024, Flashdance.
Always a good-humored teammate, he watches me with his big smile through good times and bad. My fondest memory of him this year was the December 1 competition at Red Barn in Barrie. It was a girls' trip with my good friend Lyse, and the atmosphere was one of holiday celebrations, it was magical.

Like any good cattle dog, Flashdance never turns down any activity, which sometimes leads to a lot of creativity on his part in the ring. So, I have no choice but to be on my toes to guess the right thing to do before he does.

For new agilists who want to start performing in competition, never lose the focus that it's a privilege to run with our dogs. Do like Flashdance, just smile and move on to the next race. Thanks to Lorraine Norris, breeder of Agassiz's Maple Flashdance AGMXS, AGXJS, CD, NP, Club canin Chomedey, Club d'agilité de Montréal, and to a coach always there for my teams, Carole Côté. I wish all dog lovers as good a teammate as mine, whom I affectionately call Flashou.

Call Name: Reckon

Guided by her dedicated owner and trainer, Kiersten Lloyd, Reckon’s journey to this prestigious title has been inspiring and shows the bond and teamwork that define their partnership.

One of Reckon’s most notable achievements this year was her outstanding performance at the AAC Agility National Championships in Ontario.
