Dr. Michelle Groleau
Michelle Groleau is a veterinarian and currently the Manager of the Animal Welfare Committee of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association which focuses on priority national animal welfare issues from an evidence-based perspective.
Dr. Groleau graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1984. After an internship at the San Antonio Zoo, she joined then owned and operated a companion animal hospital in rural Ontario before leaving private practice to work in academia.
Dr. Groleau joined the University of Ottawa as Clinical Veterinarian overseeing the wellness of research animals totalling 7 million animal days and later as the University Veterinarian and Director of Animal Care at Carleton University. Prior to her current position with CVMA, Dr. Groleau was Staff Veterinarian with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in Disease Control and later, Senior Staff Veterinarian focusing on Humane Animal Transport Programming and on completion of the regulatory amendment to the Health of Animals Regulations Part XII: Transport of Animals.
