Messy Hair Kennels is a small family run breeding operation. My daughters, Ashley and Amanda, and myself, Chari, began breeding Schapendoes back in 2012. We strongly believe that our dogs are our family first. We decided to breed Schapendoes to help encourage the healthy growth of this breed and to help others experience this unique, beautiful and low maintenance family dog. We are currently located in Tottenham, Ontario - approximately one hour North of Toronto. All of our Schapendoes have come from selective breeding from Canadian and European Championship lines. We ensure the utmost health of our dogs by having them thoroughly health tested prior to any breeding. Our dogs are tested under the OFA standards for hips, elbows, and heart as well as CAER tested for their eyes. We also perform extensive blood work including genetic testing for PRA and Hyperuricosuria. Socialization is key to having a well balanced and happy dog. We begin socializing our puppies at an early age to stimulations that they will experience in their everyday lives. When we have a litter, the puppies are raised in our home with all family members taking part in the rearing and development of the puppies. All of our puppies are temperament and structurally tested, have their first veterinarian health check with first vaccines, microchip and are crate trained prior to going to their forever homes no earlier than nine weeks of age. We believe that Schapendoes are a great family dog. They are a very loving breed who want to please their owners. With their intelligence they make excellent dogs for agility, obedience, rally, fly-ball, herding, tracking, fetching and tricks. No matter what activities you are into, a Schapendoes will happily fit into your life. We are proud members of the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), the United Kennel Club (UKC), and the Schapendoes Club of Canada.
